About Me

Allow me to tell you a little about myself!!

I live in Barnstaple, North Devon, and have lived in Devon all my life, I grew up on a family run farm and although I didn’t always appreciate it when I was younger, I fully do now and love nothing more than to be out in the peace and quiet of the country. The country being where my photography first took off, I never had the dream of being a photographer, nor had I really shown any interest in it as a hobby, then in 2007 I was given some very nice Christmas pennies and decided on impulse I was going to buy an all singing all dancing camera (like you do). And that’s where it all began, it went every where with me and I begun to look at everyday things very differently. I constantly read books and magazines to help develop my new passion and within a few months I was getting great feedback about images I had taken. Then in 2009 a friend asked me to do her wedding!!! My initial reaction was “oh no I couldn’t possibly; I’m just not good enough”. After a lot of hmmming and ahhing I decided that if I didn’t bite the bullet I would never find out if I was good enough and what if the opportunity didn’t come again. And so there it all began, six months later I did my second wedding, then my third and so on. For 15 years I worked in the Early Years Child Care and Education Sector, working my way up from assistant to manager. This job means I am also CRB checked, just for a little extra reassurance. In September 2012 I took the plunge to go full time with my photography. I have attended a workshop in Dorset with a professional photographer whose work I admire very much but other than that I am completely self taught.
